# Best software for a pool service route

A pool route is the purest case of a business whose week repeats: the same pools, the same days, chemistry that has to be logged, and a customer who never sees you work and only sees the bill. The software question is not "which has the most features" but "which one makes Tuesday run itself and gets the invoice paid". Six things decide it.

## What matters on a pool route

1. **The route per tech per day, in driving order, in the truck's navigation.** If the tech has to retype addresses into Google Maps, the software has failed at its first job.
2. **Zones.** A new pool in ZIP 33186 should land on the Thursday route by itself, not by someone remembering.
3. **The visit record.** What was done, what was added, a photo, and a way to log it without typing in the sun — by voice, ideally.
4. **Getting paid.** Monthly service, one-off repairs and the filter clean quoted on the spot should all become money without an evening of invoicing.
5. **Spanish.** Many pool crews in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California speak Spanish; software the tech cannot read is software the tech will not use.
6. **A price that does not grow faster than the route.** Per-pool pricing looks cheap at 40 pools and expensive at 200.

## Which one fits which route

- **A solo operator with 40 pools who lives by the chemistry log**: Skimmer's Getting Started plan, $49 a month for up to 49 pools, is hard to beat and its dosing history is the deepest in the list.
- **A route of 100 to 300 pools with two to five techs**: this is where per-pool pricing turns — $200 to $600 a month on Skimmer's Scaling Up, the plan its page puts a route of 50 pools or more on, against $69 to $99 on DoneOnce — and where estimates, subscriptions and the payments center start paying for themselves. Pool Brain's per-tech price sits in between.
- **A pool company that also does repairs, resurfacing or other trades**: a general tool (Jobber, Housecall Pro) or DoneOnce, which is not pool-specific but is built for the recurring route; Jobber and Housecall Pro bring booking, dispatch and integrations at a higher price per seat.
- **A Spanish-speaking crew or Spanish-speaking customers**: DoneOnce is the only one in the list where the owner's app, the tech's app and the customer's approval link are all in Spanish.

## What DoneOnce does on a pool route

Clients with properties and gate codes; zones by ZIP code; one route per tech per day sent to Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps; visits logged on the route, with photos, by hand or by voice; estimates with deposits and recurring subscriptions approved from the customer's phone; online card payment into your own Stripe account; a payments center that shows what each client owes and reminds them by email; clock-in and a weekly timesheet. Chemistry readings today go in the visit notes and photos rather than a dosing log — if that is the center of your business, Skimmer is the more specialized tool.
