Best software for a lawn care route

A lawn route lives and dies by density: fifteen to thirty stops a day, ten minutes each, and the money is made or lost in the drive between them. The season adds a second problem — the same client is weekly in June and biweekly in November — and the crew adds a third: two or three people in one truck, often Spanish-speaking, with no time to type. Software for a mowing route has to answer those three things before anything else.

What matters on a lawn route

  1. Density by zone. Clients grouped by ZIP code onto the same day, so a new customer in the same neighborhood lands on the same route by itself.
  2. The route in the truck. One list per crew per day, in driving order, handed to Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps in one tap.
  3. Frequency that changes with the season. Weekly, biweekly, monthly, and the switch between them without rebuilding the schedule.
  4. A crew that can use it. The tech's screen in Spanish, a clock-in that takes two seconds, a visit that can be logged by voice.
  5. Money without evenings. Monthly subscriptions billed by themselves, the cleanup or the mulch job quoted from the truck and approved from the customer's phone, reminders sent without you.
  6. A price per person, not per plan. A three-person crew should not pay for a ten-user plan to get the feature it needs.
