DoneOnce vs Skimmer
Skimmer is the most popular software written specifically for pool service, and for pool chemistry it is the more specialized tool. This page is for a pool route owner weighing the two, and it says plainly where Skimmer is the better fit.
Prices were read on Skimmer's pricing page, https://www.getskimmer.com/pricing, on 2026-09-30. Skimmer is priced per serviced location: Getting Started at $1.00 per location per month (from $49), for businesses servicing 0 to 49 pools; Scaling Up at $2.00 per location per month (from $98), for 50 to 1000 pools; Enterprise by quote above that; unlimited technicians and admins on every plan. Add-ons on the page: service texts $0.029 per message (included on Scaling Up), AI phone $99/month, marketing suite $150/month. DoneOnce is priced per person on the team, not per pool: $69 a month for up to 3 people, $15 per person from the 4th to the 10th, $10 from the 11th, unlimited clients and properties.

The shape of the two prices is the point. Skimmer grows with the number of pools; DoneOnce grows with the number of people. Up to 49 locations Skimmer's Getting Started plan, at $49, is cheaper. From 50 pools Skimmer's page puts a route on Scaling Up, $100 or more, and DoneOnce costs less — and a pool route grows in pools long before it grows in people.
What each one covers
Skimmer is deep on pool service: chemical readings and dosing history per body of water, service checklists with photos, route optimization, service emails and texts to the customer, and on higher plans a marketing suite and phone answering. If the chemistry log is the center of your business, it is the more specialized product.
DoneOnce covers the whole business of a route, not only the pool: the client book with properties and access notes, zones by ZIP code that put a new client on the right day, one route per technician per day sent to Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps, estimates with deposits and recurring subscriptions approved from the customer's phone, online card payment into your own Stripe account, a payments center that shows what every client owes and reminds them by email, jobs with estimated versus actual time, crew clock-in and a weekly timesheet, and a voice assistant the technician talks to on the route. It is in Spanish end to end — the technician's app, the customer's link and the help. Chemistry readings today go in the visit notes and photos, not a dedicated dosing log. Service reports with photos are in development.
Choose Skimmer if
- The chemical log per pool, with dosing history, is what your business runs on.
- You want customer text notifications today (DoneOnce's are email today; text is in development).
- Your route is small and you are counting single dollars.
Choose DoneOnce if
- Your route is large or growing and you want the price to stay flat as pools are added.
- Estimates, subscriptions and getting paid on time matter as much as the visit itself.
- Your technicians or your customers speak Spanish.
- You also run lawn, cleaning or repair work alongside pools and want one app.
